BUFFALO, N.Y. — In years past at the Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, the Penguins couldn’t compare to the other NHL teams in terms of prospect depth and pedigree. That has changed in the second year of Pittsburgh’s rebuild under Kyle Dubas.
This past weekend, the Penguins — who went 2-0-1 — had so many interesting prospects to watch that it almost felt overwhelming at times. But we tried our best to leave Buffalo with one thought on each of the 24 prospects who suited up for them.
Who were the standouts? Who blended in? And where might some need work?
