The week ahead starts with late summer heat but could end with showers caused by the remnants of a tropical system moving across California.
Those rain chances are not a sure thing. It all depends on the path of the remnants of tropical storm Mario in the East Pacific.
There is the potential for those remnants to take an eastward track into Nevada, leaving Northern California dry and warm.
However, a couple of major forecast models show that moisture moving up the California coastline, spreading shower chances for the Valley, Foothills and Sierra late Thursday into Friday.
Rain amounts would be light, but the clouds and showers would significantly knock down temperatures at the end of the week.
The next couple of days will be quite warm with Valley highs in the upper 90s to around 100
