Queens University of Charlotte and Elon University have agreed to merge — a marriage that leaders say will create efficiencies of scale and address “the headwinds confronting higher education.”

The proposed merger, announced Tuesday on the Queens Campus, has been approved by directors at both schools and could be completed by the summer of 2026, officials said.

Under details outlined in a press release, “Elon will operate Queens in partnership with existing and legacy leaders.”

The merger would mean Queens students could access Elon’s curriculum, including its upcoming physician assistant program. And Elon students could access Queens’ campus and amenities, such as the library, gymnasium, dining services and healthcare.
