EMMET COUNTY, MI -- Campsites right at the tippy top of the Lower Peninsula are extending their season, giving leaf peepers one extra week of fall color.

Wilderness State Park in Emmet County is leaving its Lake Michigan campgrounds open until Oct. 20 this year.

Camping dates between Oct. 13 and Oct. 20 will become available in the reservation system beginning 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The East, West Lakeshore and full hook-up campgrounds extended its season until the campground shuts off its water, therefore the modern bathrooms will be available until Oct. 20.
