A prostate cancer charity has responded to a "hugely important" storyline in Emmerdale featuring Dr Liam Cavanagh, portrayed by actor Jonny McPherson.

In Tuesday's episode (16 September) of the popular ITV soap , the village doctor confided his worries about his prostate health to Claudette Anderson (played by Flo Wilson), who strongly advised him to seek a second opinion from another healthcare professional.

Liam found himself in an embarrassing situation when Claudette discovered him urinating at the allotment. Summoning Claudette to the Woolpack backroom, Liam confessed that he's been struggling with urinary incontinence.
