A 300-year-old Leeds pub which was once "the place to go" is to to close for a £420,000 makeover to restore it to its former glory.

The New Inn on Eccup Lane, on the outskirts of Leeds city centre , will close on September 29 to undergo a massive £420,000 refurbishment by Heineken-owned Star Pubs and new operator Scott Westlake. The pub , which dates back to the 1700s, is set to reopen mid-November along with new manager Kyle Henderson.

The new look will include a fresh coat of paint on the current 'tired-looking' building, new signage, restoring the old fireplace and 'sprucing up' the car park. Inside will also be designed around the countryside and have a 'farm-house style'. Around 15 jobs will also be created when the business reopens.
