SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) just experienced its busiest summer since 1981.

This summer, the airport added a new flight to Nashville; the airport also added more departures for several of its nine non-stop routes.

This summer (May through August), 307,597 people traveled through SHV, says airport official, Mark Crawford. This was an increase of 19% from last year, he says. Crawford says the new Nashville flight was quite popular, with more than 5,400 people taking the flight this summer.

The non-stop flight to Nashville will be back next summer, along with non-stop trips to Destin and Orlando in Florida. All these flights are through Allegiant; tickets will be on sale by the end of the year.
