COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — Coventry police have arrested a man accused of leading officers on a chase that ended in a crash earlier this month.

Police said David Anthony turned himself in Monday morning.

Anthony, 23, was arraigned in district court on charges including duty to stop in an accident resulting in personal injury, reckless driving/eluding law enforcement, and obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.

According to police, Anthony was driving a pickup truck towing a trailer on Sept. 6. When an officer attempted to pull the truck over, Anthony allegedly accelerated in an attempt to evade police and then hit another vehicle on Route 117 near Acres of Pine Road.

Anthony ran off after the crash, police said.
