Orange flames engulfed a lorry trailer as firefighters battled to douse the blaze. The incident has now sparked a warning from the brigade and waste disposal bosses.
The lorry, operated by GMCA’s waste contractor SUEZ, was travelling from Longley Lane waste processing plant in Wythenshawe to a paper and card recycling centre in Partington when the large quantity of paper and cardboard it was carrying burst into flames
Fire crews spent five hours extinguishing the fire using specialist equipment, saving the lorry trailer. Thankfully nobody was injured during the incident. Content cannot be displayed without consent
