GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM)-- Gettysburg has a new way of issuing property violations.

The borough passed a quality of life ordinance last month, modeled after many municipalities that have similar ones.

Non-traffic violations like long grass, piles of trash, or incorrectly displayed addresses are now like parking tickets. There are 29 different violations for which homes and businesses can now be fined in Gettysburg.

In August, the borough decided to put all of these so-called "nuisance" ordinances under one "Quality of Life" ordinance. The borough's code compliance officer said that it saves property owners from having to go through the court system if they get a violation.
