ST. LOUIS — Striking Boeing workers will vote Friday in an unusual bid to put an end to the seven-week walkout at the company's St. Louis-area facilities.

Union officials on Tuesday said the union was taking "bold, creative steps" to end the strike after Boeing leaders "refused to improve" on a contract offer union members voted down last week.

Members will vote Friday morning on whether to approve the union's proposal and send the pre-ratified offer to Boeing leadership for consideration.

The strike would continue if members reject the union's plan, or if Boeing leaders reject it. A representative for Boeing did not immediately provide a comment on the latest effort.
