NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Tuesday issued a statement remembering the late iconic actor and director Robert Redford, who left an impact on New Mexico's film industry.

"I join all New Mexicans in mourning the loss of Robert Redford, whose deep connection to our state left an indelible mark on its cultural and environmental landscape," Lujan Grisham wrote in part about Redford's passing. He was 89.

In the statement, the governor also highlighted some of Redford's success in New Mexico, such as the 1988 film "The Milagro Beanfield War," which he filmed in Truchas, and most recently his executive producer role on AMC's "Dark Winds" both of which Redford "captured New Mexico’s culture in an authentic manner," according to the governor.
