ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — The Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is hosting an adoption event where you can get a new furry friend for free. "Final Lap to a Forever Home" is slated for Saturday and Sunday at both the eastside and westside centers.

They'll have dogs and cats, as well as other companion animals ready for a loving family. The department is waiving adoption fees, but that's not the only freebie. Spaying or neutering, micro-chipping, a free dog training class and more will be available.
