Madison's Casey Crabtree has officially begun his campaign for South Dakota's lone congressional seat as of Sept. 15.

Crabtree has represented District 8, which includes Brookings, Kingsbury, Lake and Miner Counties, since he was appointed to the Senate in 2020 by former Gov. Kristi Noem. He ran for election in subsequent years and the Republican caucus chose him as the senate majority leader from early 2023 to early 2025, when he was replaced by Jim Mehlhaff. ×
