HOUSTON — Reaction to Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo's decision not to seek a third term is trickling in.

Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, a Democrat, often butted heads with Hidalgo, but cited her leadership during the pandemic in a brief statement.

"I want to thank Judge Hidalgo for serving Harris County for the last 7 years. It was courageous for her to have even put her name on the ballot in the first place. Her presence was felt during the pandemic, one of the most difficult times in our nation’s history. I wish her well in the next chapter of her life."
