TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A Tucson man was sentenced to federal prison for trying to meet up with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex.

71-year-old John Stephen Baker will spend 8.5 years in prison, followed by a term of lifetime supervised release.

He pleaded guilty to Attempted Travel with Intent to Engage in Illicit Sexual Activity.

The Department of Justice says from around February 6, 2023, and continuing through May 10, 2023, Baker communicated with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old female, who was actually an undercover special agent with Homeland Security Investigations.
