Lincoln and Lancaster County residents can drop off waste at two drive-thru collection events later this month.
The first of the free events is Sept. 26 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Bennet Fire Department, 480 Fir St. The second is Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Star City Shores, 4375 S. 33rd Court.
Those wishing to take part are asked to load any waste into a leak-proof tote and place the tote into their vehicle's trunk or pickup bed. A hazardous waste team will then unload the waste from the vehicle.
Accepted items include: pesticides, lawn and garden chemicals, household cleaning products, paint thinners, stains, polishes and waxes, turpentine, oil-based paint, pool cleaning chemicals, flea and tick powders, rodent poison, charcoal starter fluids, mixed or old gasoline, antifreeze, bra
