This classic family story focuses on the four March sisters against the backdrop of civil war in New England. Independent Jo wants to be a writer, an unusual dream for a teenage girl in 1860s Massachusetts. Staying home while their father is away at war, she and her sisters—traditional Meg, shy Beth and vivacious Amy—grow closer together as they navigate loss and new beginnings. This stage adaptation by Lauren Gunderson uses lines from the original novel to share the complexity, and charm, of these four strong characters transitioning from girlhood to adulthood. Performances go until Oct. 12.
