BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) - Half a billion in federal dollars could be going toward rural healthcare in West Virginia.

Governor Patrick Morrisey said newly available funding could change the course of healthcare in the state. 500 million dollars was earmarked to help West Virginia providers take advantage of new administrative and technological innovations in healthcare. The funding amount came as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed into law by President Donald Trump in July.

"Of course, we want to have a transformative impact on rural healthcare outcomes in the state," said Governor Morrisey. "Within the Big Beautiful Bill, there were some provisions that ensured that states have a minimum of a half-a-billion dollars that will be coming over a five-year period."
