PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Washington is one of the best states to work as a teacher, according to a new report.

The findings come after La Center students lost two weeks of class time following a teacher strike. The start of the new school year was also delayed at Evergreen Public Schools, where support staff just wrapped up a nearly three-week strike.

Meanwhile, at Vancouver Public Schools, a strike appears to have been avoided after union members and district representatives reached a tentative agreement Monday evening. They voted to authorize a strike on Sept. 11 if no agreement was reached.

Still, Washington ranked third on WalletHub's Best States for Teachers list, mainly because of recent pay increases.
