LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Brooks Houck has agreed to surrender custody of the child he shared with Crystal Rogers to his sister.
According to court documents that were filed on Monday, Houck’s sister, Rhonda McIlvoy, was granted full custody of Houck’s 12-year-old son.
McIlvoy petitioned the court for full custody in July. Court documents state that she had temporary custody since 2023.
Houck has been in jail after being convicted of killing Rogers.
Documents for the custody case mention that the child’s mother is dead.
The jury recommended the maximum life sentence for Houck. Formal sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 17.
