LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - After some tough questions in Frankfort, the ongoing discussion and concern over Fayette County Public Schools’ budget shortfall continued Tuesday night in a specially called meeting. This time to discuss the need for an independent external review.

On Tuesday night, the board voted to move forward with that audit.

Fayette County Public Schools Board Chair Tyler Murphy says he hopes that with the board voting five to zero to move forward with an external independent review, the district can regain community trust.

“We need to work together, especially at a time when our public schools are being asked to do so much and are facing challenges. Our kids are counting on the adults in the room,” said Murphy.
