NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The New Haven Museum is celebrating and exploring the history of the city's famous apizza with a special exhibit opening in October.

The exhibit, titled "Pronounced Ah-Beetz," opens at the museum on Oct. 9 at 5:30 p.m. with free admission, according to their website .

The museum said their new offering will explore the "fun, the flavor and the history of pizza, including its origin as an affordable means of feeding workers in the fields of Italy, and how it became the food of the poor in the U.S."

Visitors will be treated to pizza slices from Pepe's, Sally's and Modern, which the museum noted as the city's big three original apizza spots. The exhibit will examine the origin of these restaurants and highlight other local pizzerias including Ernie’s, Zuppardi’s, BA
