GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- A 16-year-old Eagle Scout is making a difference for Greensboro first responders.
In order to achieve Eagle Scout status, there’s a project involved, and Jacob Delveaux chose to make a freestanding dryer for firefighter gear.
He constructed the machine from materials that cost about $1,000 in total. If the department ordered a machine for the same drying purpose, it could cost 15 to 20 times that.
With the flip of a switch, the freestanding bunker gear dryer comes to life.
“The air goes through it. There are the valves so you can turn the air on and off, so if you have one or two coats on, you can just turn those two on,” Delveaux said.
