WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A meaningful event is currently taking place at McConnell Air Force Base.
Every third week in September is National POW/MIA Recognition Week, a time to honor service members who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.

The base is hosting several events this week, including a 24-hour memorial walk that began Tuesday morning.
Two flags will continuously move along a one-mile stretch of the base. Participants are working in shifts of 30 minutes to an hour, with one service member committed to walking for the entire 24 hours.
