HAMDEN, Conn. — Quinnipiac University was recently awarded a $100,000 Accelerator Grant from the New England Prison Education Collaborative, or NEPEC.

A release from Quinnipiac says that the university in Hamden is now one of only five institutions in New England selected to expand higher-education opportunities for incarcerated learners.

The grant will facilitate Quinnipiac’s Prison Education and Community Engagement program.

NEPEC is a five-year initiative of the New England Board of Higher Education. It was funded by Ascendium Education Group to put in place the recommendations of the 2023 New England Commission on the Future of Higher Education in Prison.
