TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A former Tucson motel has been transformed into affordable housing to support those in need. The Amazon Flats, previously the Amazon Motel on Miracle Mile near Fairview, now offers a housing community aimed at helping locals struggling with income.

The Amazon Flats currently features 30 units, providing a fresh start for individuals working to regain stability. More units are expected to be added soon.

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero shared her vision for the project's expansion. "By the end of phase two we are going to have 89 or more individuals and families that will have a place to call home," Romero said.

The project is funded by a $6.2 million grant from the Arizona Housing Department. Additional services will be provided to help residents transition successfully
