AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Despite a late comeback, the Midland RockHounds defeated the Amarillo Sod Poodles in Game 1 of the post-season Division series by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday.

It was a slow start for Amarillo, trailing 6-0 after the first six innings, but came back to life with their backs against the wall.

Gavin Logan got things started with a 2-run homerun to score Cristofer Torin and cut the lead to 6-2.

After Midland tacked on another run, Gavin Conticello delivered in a big moment. A deep shot to centerfield and off the batters eye for a 3-run homerun, making it a 7-5 game in the bottom of the eighth.

The RockHounds again answered back with a run, and LuJames Groover put one across the plate for the home team in the final frame and settled on first.
