DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — On Tuesday night, the Douglas County School District and law enforcement hosted a “Forum on School Safety and Security.”
Police chiefs from cities within the district, as well as the Douglas County Sheriff, were part of the panel.
Much of the session focused on the number of School Resource Officers. The district has 92 schools with more than 55 school resource officers and 120 Security Specialists.
The panel session lasted more than 2-and-half-hours. Many of the concerns raised by parents were spurred by the recent school shooting at Evergreen High School, which has left two students still hospitalized.
The gunman died of self-inflicted wounds, and the school will be closed through the end of the week.
