TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Tucson Unified School District has officially approved updates to its cell phone policy.

The revisions follow a new law signed by Gov. Katie Hobbs. This law prohibits cell phone use in classrooms, with exceptions for medical or emergency situations.

Teachers are permitted to allow devices for educational purposes. The updated Tucson Unified School District policy also restricts phone use during passing periods, lunch, and recess.
