Married anaesthetist leaves patient unconscious on operating table to engage in 'comfort break' with nurse

A UK consultant anaesthetist allegedly abandoned a patient in the middle of surgery to have sex with a colleague.

Dr Suhail Anjam, aged 44, was caught by a horrified colleague in a ‘compromising position’ with an unnamed nurse at Tameside Hospital in the UK.

The shocking incident took place back in September 2023 while a patient Dr Anjam was operating on was left under general anaesthetic on the operating table.

The pair were discovered after growing suspicious when they were absent from the operating theatre for eight minutes.

One nurse later told the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing that Nurse C’s trousers were “around her knee area with her underwear on display.”

The witness added that Dr Anjam was “tying up the cord of his trousers” when the pair were interrupted.
