ENFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - The town of Enfield is mourning the loss of longtime public works employee Jamie Nickerson, who was struck and killed by a vehicle while on the job last week .
Nickerson, 54, was killed Friday morning while mowing the lawn outside Enfield Town Hall.
He had worked for the town for 18 years and was known by colleagues and neighbors as a dedicated public servant and a kindhearted member of the community.
A memorial has been set up at Enfield Green, where residents have been leaving flowers, flags, and handwritten notes in his memory.
Nickerson is survived by his wife of 20 years, Janet, and their two sons.
Family members described him as a devoted husband, proud father, and passionate sports fan.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Leete
