LeShelle May of CNN Internet Technology Group has been named to the board of directors for United Way California Capital Region.

May joined CNN in 1996 as a senior software developer. She now leads the team responsible for migrating all of CNN’s legacy content to the cloud.

She previously led teams on the CNNgo launch and in developing the NewsApps Portal. She won a 2000 Technical Emmy on behalf of CNN for its unique video content system. In 1999 and 2000, she was honored with the Computerworld Smithsonian Award from the Smithsonian Institute. She holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Boston University and a master’s in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is married to UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May.
