As the monsoon nears an end in Phoenix, the air had begun to dry out, but moisture could return with the help of a tropical storm.
With Mario pumping moisture northward, the chances of rain in Phoenix will increase as the week goes on.
Just when it seemed like the monsoon was fizzling out, one last burst of storms could move into Phoenix at the eleventh hour of the season.
While the monsoon season officially ends on Sept. 30, Tropical Storm Mario will funnel a surge of moisture into Arizona midweek, setting up several rounds of rain chances through Friday, Sept.19.
Mario isn’t expected to make landfall, but it’s sending a plume of moisture through Mexico and into the Southwest.
