Concerns have been raised that changes to the school day and the removal of registration classes in West Dunbartonshire could put pupil safety at risk.
The local authority agreed on Wednesday to launch a public consultation to engage with parents over proposals to accommodate a 33 period week at Clydebank High Schoo l, Dumbarton Academy, Our Lady & St, Patrick’s High School, St. Peter the Apostle High School and Vale of Leven Academy.
Plans to alter the start time of each day from 8.50am to 9am were also presented to the education committee.
During Wednesday's education committee, Clydebank Waterfront councillor Lauren Oxley asked how pupils would continue to be safeguarded.
As it stands there are seven periods on a Monday and Tuesday with school stopping at 3.50pm and six periods
