A Leicester boy's life was saved by the quick response of an air ambulance, his mum has said. Charlie Dexter suffered severe brain injuries after he was hit by a car while crossing the road near his home.

The incident happened on Wednesday, February 12 when the nine-year-old was walking home from school and crossed the road outside his house in Leicester . His dad Paul and Nana rushed outside after hearing a loud bang and found the youngster lying in the road.

Charlie suffered severe brain injuries from the collision, including multiple brain bleeds, swelling and a fractured skull. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) was dispatched and landed in a nearby park, with their quick actions helping save the boy's life acc
