A Victorian landmark in Leicester that once pumped away the city's sewage is now taking on a very different role. Abbey Pumping Station is to host its first ever food fair this weekend .
On Saturday (September 20) and Sunday (September 21), food and drink producers from across the region will be at the site, near to the National Space Centre , just off Abbey Lane in central Leicester. A big marquee in the pumping station's gardens will also host sales of art and other locally-made products.
The 40 stalls will include homemade pies, curries, waffles and churros, with drinks ranging from milkshakes and specialist coffee to cocktails and cider. Handcrafted goods on sale will include jewellery, knitwear, ceramics, prints and candles.
