A bear was euthanized by police in Sussex County Sept. 16 after it entered a store and bit a woman, state officials said.

The bear entered a Dollar General store in Vernon Township at approximately 3:45 p.m. Sept. 16 and bit a woman's leg, according to NJDEP Fish and Wildlife. The woman was brought to a local hospital for treatment.

A store customer led the bear out of the store before it was euthanized, according to an NJDEP spokesperson.

Footage of the bear wandering through the store has since started circulating on social media.
