LOUISVILLE, Ky. — People in Louisville’s West End are sharing their perspectives on the “Safe Louisville” plan . Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, announced the city’s plan, which aims to reduce crime, on Wednesday, April 17.

Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) said there have been fewer killings, non-fatal shootings, robberies and carjackings than in recent years, but some West End residents said it will take much more for lasting change.

Roxie Williams has lived her entire life in Louisville. She’s been retired since the early 2010s, but has since spent her time cleaning up the litter around the Russell neighborhood on the West End, seeing it as the least she can do to take pride in her community.
