LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Deputy Mayor Barbara Sexton Smith will be the interim director of the Louisville Free Public Library after it was announced in March current director Lee Burchfield would retire on June 1.
Sexton Smith will begin her interim duties on April 28.
Burchfield announced his retirement on March 13, just after he and Greenberg re-opened the historic Parkland Library . Burchfield began his career at LFPL in 1997 as an assistant branch manager at the Iroquois Branch Library. He has been director of LFPL for six years.
