Jesanie Tapia ran for a touchdown and Alina Lopez kicked three field goals and an extra point on Tuesday as the Rio Rico Hawks won the first official flag football game in school history, 16-0 over the Pueblo Warriors.

It was a long road to kickoff for the Hawks, who began practicing last spring and honing their competitive skills at unofficial tournaments during the summer. Senior quarterback Jaslene Maddox said it felt "so amazing" to see the team's work pay off with a historic win. ×
