WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Sedgwick County Zoo has announced the hatching of a Puna Ibis chick, the first successful hatching since 2019.
The zoo is one of only three zoos in the United States that house Puna Ibis, a type of bird found primarily in South America. In addition, the Sedgwick County Zoo is the only facility with a breeding flock. The zoo says the chick should fledge in about 2-3 weeks.
