HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - In an exclusive survey done in partnership between WFSB and the Connecticut Education Association, teachers expressed concerns about stress and burnout , student behavior , and some are even afraid of being harmed by their students.
“I loved what I did. I had lots of kids after school. I was Teacher of the Year for the Norwich Public Schools,” said Heidi Kapszukiewicz, a retired teacher.
Kapszukiewicz left teaching after being injured by students twice.
“They would fool around and start fighting in the hall on an instant’s notice,” she said.
Kapszukiewicz says many students were physical.
