PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A pedestrian is fighting for their life after being struck by a vehicle in Portsmouth early Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the 4300 block of Cedar Lane, in the Churchland area, around 6 a.m. for a reported crash involving a pedestrian. The person hit was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Portsmouth Police Department. No additional details about the pedestrian or the circumstances of the crash have been released.

Just a few hours later in Norfolk, another pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a city-owned vehicle.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
