(WTAJ) — Over 7 months after Governor Josh Shapiro and the Department of Corrections suggested closing a State Correctional Institute (SCI) and a prison boot camp in Central Pennsylvania, a new report is pushing for the closures of the facilities.

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, the department announced in a report that it recommends closing SCI Rockview in Bellefonte and the Quehanna Boot Camp in Karthaus. The final decision, which is expected by the end of this week, comes after months of no word and continuous pushes to save the prison and boot camp from community members and representatives.
