(WJET/WFXP) – Pennsylvania is the fifth-highest state for animal collisions, according to a new report from State Farm.

The report estimates that 1.7 million insurance claims in the United States are due to animal collisions.

The data spans from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, and shows a slight decrease from the previous year’s 1.8 million.

Pennsylvania drivers faced the odds of an average of 1 in 62 of being involved in a collision with an animal.

Deer top the list as the most struck animal, followed by rodents, dogs and raccoons.

October through December is the highest risk time span for animal-related collisions, making up 41% of all animal collision claims.

Pennsylvania also reported the highest number of estimated industry claims at 147,000.
