CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are still working to figure out who was responsible for a deadly 2017 hit-and-run in east Charlotte.

A young man named Corey Brown was reportedly hit by a vehicle right near the intersection of Lawyers Road and Donnefield Drive.

Police said the driver left the scene of the collision. Brown died after being hit. He was only 25.

“I don’t know why people would do that. You had to know that you struck someone or something,” said Detective Jacqueline Clyburn with Crime Stoppers.

Brown would have celebrated a birthday Monday. He would now be 34 years old. His mother, Arthemia Haltiwanger, spoke to WBTV in a phone interview Monday.
