QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — Two projects that bid for New York casino licenses were turned away from advancing to the next phase by their respective Community Advisory Committees on Wednesday.

The Caesars Palace application in Times Square and The Avenir on the west side of Manhattan were shut down in the community review phase required by the New York State Gaming Commission.

That leaves six remaining applicants on the table for the opportunity to advance before the Gaming Facility Location Board for the three available licenses in the state. Community Advisory Committees dedicated to each applicant have to vote on advancement or denial before the Sept. 30 deadline.
