MADISON (WKOW) — Two state lawmakers are looking for co-sponsors for a joint resolution to honor the late Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Sen. André Jacque (R - New Franken) and Rep. Chuck Wichgers (R - Muskego) are leading the effort to recognize Kirk's legacy.
"He was an inspiration to so many young adults," said Jacque.
"His commitment to free speech and kindness to political or ideological opponents will leave a cultural void," said Wichgers.
Kirk was known for his dedication to engaging students in political dialogue on college campuses.
Legislators are asked to join the resolution by Sept. 24. The resolution calls for prayers for Kirk's family and seeks peace and healing for the nation.
