BELOIT, Wis. (WKOW) — A Janesville man has been arrested in connection with two convenience store robberies in the city of Beloit.

Carl Thompson, 44, was arrested for two counts of robbery with a use of force. Thompson is currently on probation for previous robbery convictions, according to the Beloit Police Department.

The robberies happened on Liberty Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday, police reported.

The first incident was reported Tuesday at 8:39 p.m. in the 100 block of Liberty Avenue. Police said Thompson implied possession of a weapon but had left by the time officers arrived.

The second robbery took place at 7:22 a.m. the following day in the 1100 block of Liberty Avenue. Thompson threatened the clerk with a shooting if demands were not met, police said.
